Notice Periods by Province
- Ontario: Minimum 1 week per year of service, up to 8 weeks
- British Columbia: Minimum 1 week; contract usually specifies more
- Alberta: 1 week under 2 years; 2 weeks for 2 to 4 years
- Quebec: Governed by Act Respecting Labour Standards
Your Rights
- All earned wages must be paid to your last day
- Accrued vacation pay must be paid out
- Voluntary resignation generally means no Employment Insurance entitlement
